The Freedom Tour of Edinburgh's Old Town takes you to all of the most interesting and talked about places
The full tour is comprised of 38 places. These locations are divided into four themes or topics - General History, Famous Figures, Dark History and Harry Potter. There are two guides Fiona and David who will tell you lots of fascinating stories and interesting historical facts. Fiona will guide you on Dark History and Harry Potter while David covers General History and Famous figures.

You can choose to do all four themes or only some of them. As a guide the General History tour takes around 60 minutes, the Famous Figures tour takes aroung 40 minutes, Dark History is around 50 minutes and Harry Potter is around 30 minutes. You can start where you want although we recommend one of the three locationson this map.
The arrows on the map are a suggested route but you do not need to follow this route

Freedom tours give you flexibility to stop whenever you want. You may be tired and want to sit and rest for a while, you might be hungry and want to stop for some food. You might pass a really interesting looking shop and want to see inside.

To get the best from the tour we strongly recommend that you walk around the city using the map on our app to guide you to the various locations. However we have built in a function that allows you to take the tour without walking. This "bad weather option" allows you to explore the city from the comfort of a warm cosy cafe.
When you have visited all the places in one of the themes, there is an option to take a fun quiz to see what you have remembered. This quiz could be done over a drink in a cafe or pub.
